Marketing Lessons You Need To Grow Your Business - Part 1


Marketing is the most important part of any business. Doing the marketing the right way will help you business to succeed and grow above competition. It will give your business positive edge and attract funds.


In this article, I will be exposing some of the great marketing lessons you really need to learn.


 1. Where The Money Is:

The money is not in your service or product. It is in the "SELLING" of your service or product. This is one great mistake that some businesses (small and medium scale businesses especially) make, they put so much focus in their service or product and forget about the selling part. Your ability to make sales is what keeps your business alive and going.


 For example , your hair dressing business; your business is not hair dressing, your business is SELLING hair dressing. 

Another one, Your business is not social media consulting, your business is SELLING social media consulting.

In addition  to this, what you intend to sell has to be top notch in terms of quality, for you to be able to sell it.

2. Why Should People Do Business With You? 

Why should they buy your product or service? Why should prospects hire you? What makes you or your product special and different from competitor's?

This is a great question you need to answer in a convincing way if you want people to give you their hard earned money.

This is a question of competitive advantage. You need to know the advantages your business has over your competition. These should be captured in your business plan of course.


3. Why Your Marketing Efforts Are Not Yielding Position Results:

 This is usually because of 3 factors:

  • Nobody wants the product you are  selling.
  • The audience you are targeting are poor.
  • Your sales message (advert) is poorly designed or constructed.

4. People Do Not Understand What You Do:

People make purchase decision base on their understanding about the product or service and/or the advert message.

You need to be able to tell people what your business is, what your product is and the usage and the services you offer. Your message must be in a clear terms with simple English or any language your prospect understands well.

5. Don't Manipulate People To Buy 

Psychologically, people like to think that the decision to buy were their original idea. They don't want to feel been manipulation into buying something.

You job here is to be truthful to your prospects. But, present them with convincing benefits of your products or services and, offer them something that will make them return next time.
